Learn About CBD and Hemp

The Difference between CBD and Hemp Seed Oil

People often confuse CBD oil and hemp seed oil. Whether it’s the consumer that doesn’t understand which product they need, or if it’s bad advertising, we’re committed to making it clear just how different these two products are. So, what are the differences between CBD oil and hemp seed oil?

Where Do They Come From?

First, let’s consider where these two oils come from. Both CBD oil and hemp seed oil come from the hemp plant, also known as Cannabis Sativa. However, CBD as well as other cannabinoids and beneficial compounds come from the flower of the plant, whereby hemp seed oil comes from hemp seeds. The other big difference is the type of seed genetics. The CBD genetics are made to produce high levels of CBD, while the hemp seed genetics contain little levels of CBD. CBD plants are typically shorter and bushier, but the hemp seed plants are tall and lean. CBD oil comes from the resin on the flower material and is then extracted from the flower. However, hemp seed oil comes from the seeds.

THC and CBD are both cannabinoids. Both compounds are derived from the cannabis plant. Full Spectrum CBD oil has only 0.3% THC or less, but Hemp seed oil does not contain cannabinoids, so it doesn’t contain THC or CBD.

CBD vs Hemp Seed Oil – How Are They Consumed?

CBD oil has many different uses, and can be consumed many different ways.  You can find CBD oil tinctures that you drop under your tongue, and you can even find CBD capsules and food products.

Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp seed oil on the other hand is primarily used for non- therapeutic purposes, and is used as a cooking oil, in beauty products, and even in some paints. The difference is that CBD oil is used for therapeutic reasons and hemp seed oil is used for nutrition.

CBD vs Hemp Seed Oil – What Are They Used for?

CBD oil, no matter how you consume it, is used to treat several different maladies. It’s commonly used to treat various forms of pain. It does this by interacting with our endocannabinoid system. You can treat pain associated with arthritis and even multiple sclerosis using CBD oil.

CBD oil is also used to treat anxiety, depression, sleep, and pain associated with arthritis. Being non-addictive and safe even for pets, CBD oil is a promising alternative to some of the harmful – but legal – pharmaceuticals out there used to treat these conditions.

Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp seed oil on the other hand has some common uses. It has high nutritional content, being rich in protein and healthy fats. This makes it great for cooking. However, it’s also used for its anti-inflammatory properties and for moisturizing the skin. Hemp seed oil can even be used to seal painted surfaces!

So, the main difference between CBD oil and hemp seed oil is what they’re used for. While CBD oil has lots of therapeutic uses, people value hemp seed oil for its nutritional content.
